Steel Magnolias Tryouts

Wabeno Area Players will be hosting open auditions for our April 21-23rd productions of Steel Magnolias. Auditions will be held February 27th and 28th at 6:30 pm in the Nancy Volk Auditorium. Those wishing to audition need only attend one night. Scripts and tryout materials will be available in public libraries in Lakewood, Wabeno, Laona and Crandon.

Practices will begin March 13th and occur three times a week. Firm schedule will be set after the show is cast, including an additional practice on Sunday April 16th. Dress rehearsals will be April 18th and 19th. Performance dates are April 21st and 22nd at 7pm and April 23rd at 2pm.

2023 Launch Party- 1/15/23

Mark your calendars! The Wabeno Area players invite you to join us for the launch of our 2023 season. On Sunday January 15th we will be hosting a party at Wabeno’s own Madonna Hall. Join us for drinks, desserts, and prizes as we usher in a new year for the players.

A story of life, laughter, and loss against the backdrop of life in rural Louisiana- this tale shares the life and struggles of a group of women who meet regularly at Truvy’s in-home beauty parlor. Join us for laughter and tears as we celebrate this classic together this April.

Huisman Honor Recital

Nancy Volk Auditorium (Wabeno High School)

Saturday May 20th @ 7pm

In honor of the late Richard Huisman, we present a showcase of young Wisconsin talent. The Huisman Honor Recital celebrates high school students who have been selected to receive scholarships and offers them an opportunity to showcase their vocal or instrumental talents. Proceeds from this event go towards further funding this scholarship program.

Day at the Schoolhouse

Saturday June 24th @ 6pm

Join us for an informative and funny look back at life in Wabeno’s one room schoolhouse. This readers’ theater event examines the lives of teachers and students living in rural communities in the early 1900s. Come laugh and learn!

Those interested in participating can audition June 8th and 9th at the Nancy Volk Auditorium.
