The Wabeno Area Players are hard at work on our first show of the 2023 season. Our cast and crew are excited to welcome you 4/21-4/23 to the town of Chinquapin Parish, Louisiana for this beloved classic. Tickets are on sale now! Find them by clicking here.

Our show will be dedicated to the memory of Nancy Volk (whose name graces our show’s performance space) and to the late Doctor Daniel Boatright. Daniel was a professor, actor, writer, and a beloved member of the Players who passed away unexpectedly last week from surgery complications. The Players have been lucky enough to perform Daniel’s shows, including Planting Season, The Death of Kenny, and many more. Daniel was vibrant member of our community and will be missed.

Wabeno Area Players will be hosting open auditions for our April 21-23rd productions of Steel Magnolias. Auditions will be held February 27th and 28th at 6:30 pm in the Nancy Volk Auditorium. Those wishing to audition need only attend one night. Scripts and tryout materials will be available in public libraries in Lakewood, Wabeno, Laona and Crandon.

Practices will begin March 13th and occur three times a week. Firm schedule will be set after the show is cast, including an additional practice on Sunday April 16th. Dress rehearsals will be April 18th and 19th. Performance dates are April 21st and 22nd at 7pm and April 23rd at 2pm.
