Volunteers Needed for Wabeno Area Players 2019 Productions and Fine Arts Series

We need you!  Volunteers are needed for the following positions:  Ushers, Ticket/Box Office, Table Service and Coat Check.  You can volunteer for every show or just one performance.  We will take any time that you have to give.  Plus, you get to see one of our productions at no cost!

Community theatre is made possible because of community involvement and support. Did you know that every person you come in contact with at Wabeno Area Players is a volunteer? Our board provides necessary guidance and expertise, but to create numerous productions we need you!

There are lots of volunteer opportunities: ushers, table staff, box office, marketing, publicity, stage crew, performers and technicians. Everyone is important to Wabeno Area Players. Whether it is for one hour or every day, we need you!

Thursday Theater “All NEW COMEDY”

On Thursday, January 24, 2019 Wabeno Area Players will be presenting a Workshop Readers Theatre Performance at The Big Easel (1784 Maple Ave., Wabeno) at 7:00pm.  Dinner service will begin at 5:30pm until 6:30pm.  On the menu will be the Main Entree/Salad/Dessert for $15.  For reservations please call (715) 889-1179.  Space is limited so call early.

The evening will feature a new group of Players presenting comical selections that everyone will be sure to enjoy.  You may even see a couple of veteran members playing supporting roles.  This performance comes after a month of Readers’ Theater Workshops.  This is a new season for the Players and part of the season is Theater Workshops for all those interested in being on stage.  We teamed up with The Big Easel to provide a quality environment and performance venue.  Don’t miss this chance to welcome some new performers and enjoy an evening full of laughs.  Wabeno Area Players will be donating all funds raised this evening to the Rebel Drama Department.

Wabeno Area Players Names Dr. Daniel Boatright as Playwright-In-Residence

Dr. Daniel Boatright has been selected by the Wabeno Area Players as the first Playwright –In-Residence in the groups history. He will be the playwright for all of 2019. Dr. Boatright will engage with the Players and community through teaching. He will hold master classes, workshops and will write and develop a new play in collaboration with the Players for the 2020 Season. He will be focusing on two writer workshops this summer. The first workshop will be in June and is for students in grades 7-12. The second workshop will be for adults and will be held in August.

This program, made possible by the support of our patrons and Wabeno Area Players Members, recognizes playwrights whose work has had significant impact on the rural arts. Dr. Boatright has written numerous plays and readers’ theater selections for the Players in the past. He has also written exclusively for The Big Easel Bistro and Gallery in Wabeno as well as numerous groups in Oklahoma.

Readers Theater for the Beginner

Have you always wanted to do a little performing?  Are you a little shy to try out for a play?  Well, you have the perfect opportunity to put your fears aside and have a great time with others like you.

The beginning rehearsal starts on the 9th of January.  Only three rehearsals to commit and then a performance for friends and family.  The rehearsals and performance will take place at the beautiful Big Easel Bistro and Gallery in Wabeno.  This is the performing venue for so many amazing shows and performances.  Tim and Connie will be our hosts with Wabeno Area Players running the workshop.

Green Bay Packer Foundation Grant awarded

On Wednesday, December 5th, The Wabeno Area Players were honored with a $4000 Grant from the Green Bay Packer Foundation.  It was a momentous occasion for the players and one the community can truly be proud of.  The grant will be used for a New Fine Arts Series and Community Programing.  The Players will be adding two concerts in conjunction with the three mainstage productions in 2019.  The performing groups will also be spending the day with area school students working with them on music, theater and dance.  Included with the concert additions the players will be hosting several adult workshops throughout the year for adults.  The workshops will range from beginning acting to short play performances.    The three mainstage productions for 2019 are On Golden Pond, Working and Farce of Habit.

The Players are a completely community focused non-profit organization.
